SEM Racing Takes Multiple Checkered Flags on the Final NASCAR Race Weekend!
The SEM Racing team celebrates a wildly successful racing season with sponsored drivers winning 1st place in three Series Championships and another 2nd place championship ranking.
End of the year highlights include:
2017 MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES CHAMPION – Martin Truex, Jr/Furniture Row Racing
On November 19, 2017, Martin Truex Jr., driver of No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota, won the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead Miami Speedway. His 8th victory of the year secured the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series Championship – the first championship for Truex, Jr and Furniture Row Racing.
Another SEM driver and 2014 Champion, Kevin Harvick of Stewart Haas Racing finished 3rd in the final series standings by piloting his No. 4 Jimmy John's Ford to a 4th place finish in the Homestead season finale.
2017 NASCAR XFINITY SERIES CHAMPION – William Byron/JR Motorsports
On November 18, 2017, William Byron, the JR Motorsports driver of the No. 9 Liberty University Camaro, secured his place as the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion, by finishing 3rd place in the Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead Miami Speedway. Byron beat out fellow SEM Racing teammates Elliott Sadler and Justin Allgaier for the championship, giving SEM a 1-2-3 finish in the final Xfinity standings.
2017 Ford EcoBoost 300 Winner – Cole Custer/Stewart Haas Racing
Cole Custer, of Stewart Haas Racing, finished the season on a high note with his first win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Driving No. 00 Haas Automation Ford Mustang, Custer dominated the series finale and won the Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead Miami Speedway. He finished 5th in the final season standings, giving SEM four drivers in the top 5.
2017 ARCA SERIES CHAMPION – Austin Theriault/Ken Schrader Racing
On October 20, 2017, Austin Theriault of Ken Schrader Racing, driver of No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Ford, claimed his first ARCA Racing Series Championship after the Kansas 150 at Kansas Speedway. Theriault won 7 races throughout the 2017 ARCA campaign.
2017 NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES RUNNER UP – Johnny Sauter/GMS Racing
On November 17, 2017, Johnny Sauter, racing in No. 21 ISM Connect Chevrolet for GMS Racing, ended the Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead Miami Speedway with his 13th top-five finish of the season. The 2016 series champ could not pass Christopher Bell and finished 2017 as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series runner-up.
